I'm an adult and I know how to code in other languages, but I still watch your videos, because having to translate the simple blocks into real code gives me a better understanding of how and why it works, than copying stuff off of Github or Stack Overflow. Thanks for all your help Griffpatch

Your tutorials are fantastic! Although I've been on scratch for over 4 years, your tutorials still teach me new stuff. Your tutorials are really easy for anyone to understand- making the code very customizable! A key part of tutorials is explaining why you need that piece of code, how it works, and the like. Some people will just sit there telling you what to do- but not why it works. Thank you for being such an influential scratcher. Please keep it up! Plus: I'm looking forward to a new tutorial past this- possibly a roguelike? ;)

Amazing video as before in this series. I started doing scratch and then moved on to C# and Unity and even in a more advanced language i still am learning things from you. You Rock Griffpatch ⚡ And out of all the videos uploaded by subscribers in my list i always watch your first!

I love these tutorials! I'm a computer science student now, but my original interest in programming came from Scratch. The way you explain how things work in these videos is amazing, it's done in a way that even beginner Scratchers can pick up on, and I still find myself learning new and better ways to organize my code from them. I love seeing how much Scratch can really do...

I had 5 online teachers who taught me game design, yet i found Griffpatch and i learned more stuff from his videos more than all of my old teachers combined i love ur videos! :D

Thank you Griffpatch for the tutorials :) you have improved the scratch experience for people and you are the only reason I got into programming! Even if you don't read this, I just want to write a thank you note. love from South Africa

Your Scratch tutorials are unmatched. I think you've found a perfect balance between keeping the videos a certain length and making sure the viewer understands what they're doing. I usually watch the tutorials before following them so I have a general idea of what I'm going to have to do when I eventually follow them. Keep doing what you're doing, because you're doing an incredible job. :)

I feel smarter after watching your videos. Thank you!

When was 9 found your account on Scratch, you amazed me with what you could do with it and inspired me to start teaching myself how to code. Now I'm finishing my 2nd semester of CS at university and am loving it still. Just wanted to say thank you for inspiring me as a kid.

I think everything about your videos is great. They are the right pace with the right amount of explanation. I wouldn't even mind if they were longer! I always learn the most and retain the information using your tutorials! I always ask myself when I am stuck on a coding problem: what would Griffpatch do!

Image

Chieseledboockshelf(Student)

Can you be my math teacher?

If Griffpatch were my computer science teacher that would be my favourite class

9 months ago I just found that you made a channel as I wanted to thank you. I followed your work as a kid and it defo was a big part of what sparked my interest in programming. years on and my interest is still going strong. Hopefully going to university for computer science next year. So yeah thanks.

You are just the best Griffpatch you are the one who inspired me to start my coding adventure and iv learned so much and I am glad to say thanks for all you have done I would have not discovered my passion for coding without you so I am very glad to say I love your idea of a academy for more people to get inspired like you did to me I am eternaly grateful for you

And Parents...

Just want to say thanks for all the amazing tutorials. My son was off school for a a few days with an illness and we worked together to see who could finish as much of the mario platformer as possible. Loads of fun! He said he's learned way more doing your tutorials than he would have at school lol

Image

Eayuwna (Parent)

Thank you for all your efforts. My 9 year old son is now the king of his code club having followed your tutorial and has started asking me to teach him what sin, cos and tan are - wish me luck ;-) Your content is so well put together thank you so much.

Jean-Baptiste (Parent)

The pace is great. Sometimes we follow along with my son and sometimes we just watch you work your magic together. I can’t overstate the positive impact you have on my 7yo son, he loves you and we bond watching your videos.

Image

Daniel (Parent)

I am loving this series as my daughter is having great fun making gardens and house interiors with the editor.

Image

Steve (Parent)

Pace is great! We pause frequently but sometimes keep up. I’d rather that than too slow. My 11-yo and I are coding the rpg series together (each on separate computers) and it has been great quality time. He has done and loved many of your other videos. When I don’t follow the rationale of the script, I hit the back arrow for 10 or 20 second rewind and listen again after I have the code in place. Of course, my son gets it all the first time, sometimes even predicting what you’ll do next

Image

Mike (Grandparent)

As a retired electrical engineer... who has been coding for the last 50 years I have gone through the learning curve of becoming productive in a new programming language multiple times... My grandson and I have been getting together once or twice a week for over a year to develop our Scratch skills. Your video approach has allowed us to learn more about productive Scratch coding in the last 3 months than all we did in the previous year. You have a gift for explaining complex graphics concepts in terms that your followers can understand and adapt as we experiment with your code. You should feel good knowing how much you are contributing to the positive development of a whole generation of Scratchers.

Image

George (Parent)

I am a Software Developer with over 30 years experience, but my son prefers learning from you :) And he really became very good with your videos and scratch. Thank you for your valuable work.

My son just LOVES this SO MUCH!!!!!!

Image

Calogiga (Parent)

So many many many thanks for sharing your knowledge... Now, as a father, I have a mission to simplify all of this to explain this clearly to my daughter (12 years old) : she's coding and playing with me with Scratch. Many many thanks...

My daughter loves your works. She inspired by you to be a game programmer

Image

Hi Grif, I’m not sure if you will see this, but I wanted to let you know, my son of 9 years old, screamed with excitement about your new series, your videos have inspired and helped him learn scratch and it just blows our minds. Anyways, William say hello and thank you.

And Teachers Alike!

JohnW (Teacher)

Hey Griffpatch, thanks for everything you've done for the Scratch education community! You helped me understand how platformers (among other things) work, and now as an educator, I use your projects and tutorials to help get my students excited about coding too! I'm also able to use what I learned studying your programs around 9 years ago to help teach my students. Thank you so much - your work is incredible!

Image

Rousagenciapublicitaria4268 (Teacher)

Thank you for teaching me how to make geometry dash since my students wanted to make one

Image

GeekSHO (Coding Teacher)

This is amazing! Griffpatch, please know how incredible your projects are, but also these video contributions to the community. I teach computer programming, and I often use Scratch for many of my students. These tutorials help me teach students some really cool tricks.

Image

DeanYeats (Teacher)

I appreciate the smaller contained tutorials. I teach groups of students and often see them attempt your longer tutorials and quit a few videos in. Recently I've seen them thrilled to show off the car steering and ball physics ones they've completed. Thank you for all your doing. You are bringing smiles to students and teachers faces worldwide by introducing them to the joys of programming.

Image

Taylor (Teacher)

Great tutorials! I am a teacher using them with my students.

Image

Eden (Coding Teacher)

Hi there, I am a teacher and am using your tutorials with my code club I think the pace of the videos is perfect. The pupils and I follow along pausing when needed and rewinding if necessary. The theory at the beginning along with the additional theory throughout the video is why I use your tutorials, it explains what you are doing in a way that the children understand.

I had taught basic scratch games to my summer school students, they really loved it. I am surprised how far it has come since.

Image

SPHSPHSPH (Coding Teacher)

As a middle school teacher making scratch vids for my 10-13 year old students, it's a pleasure to have high level stuff being made that helps me as a teacher learn how to do things! I feel like there's only 3-5 other people consistently making high level Scratch content for advanced folks. Love it! :D

Image

Pat (Coding Teacher)

I have a student who wants to add robot arms to her robot sprite that rotates like true shoulder and elbow joints (we are studying the human body) how do I help her with this without a whole lot of variables (she is in grade 5 and I am her coding teacher)

Image

Rob (Teacher)

@griffpatch I'm a teacher and I'm loving all of this! I am hoping to introduce it to some of my middle school computer students.

I'm so happy that you'll be opening an academy for beginning and vetran coders! I'm so excited to see how awesome this will make people's coding experiences. The whole reason I can program Scratch games like I do now is because of you, griffpatch. And you giving the same opportunities to people in a much better, easier-to-learn-in environment makes me even more excited! Great job, griffpatch, and thank you for your tutorials, devlogs, and now, this academy.

I am nine years old. And I love your channel!I found your channel when I was 7 years old. Since then, I have been coding in scratch. I have made many projects including:Custom 3D Raycasting, RPG with my own custom sprites, A plane shooter game, 2D classic platformer and much more including a few unfinished ones which are still under work. I can't wait to finish them with you and the entire Griffpatch community together!
